PEDRO ROSA
“Pedro Rosa Midnight Alvorada (Abaju!) First is Pedro Rosa, from São Paulo, but with a decade-and-a-half in Spain under his belt. His first album is a labour of love created with an array of Brazilian musical virtuosity, including percussion from Zé Luis Nascimento.”
“
Swedish label ajabu! must have a good network of scouts. Pedro Rosa is their latest Brazilian discovery, following the likes of Tiganá Santana, Ian Lasserre and Irma Ferreira. Born in São Paulo and currently in Barcelona, Rosa co-composed eight of the ten songs here with collaborator Rafael Mourão and enlisted fellow expats such as Zé Luis Nascimento to provide delicate accompaniment. The album opens with a beautiful meditative dialogue between Rosa’s acoustic guitar and Davide Bora’s soprano sax. ‘Samba de Um Balaio’ and ‘Na Rota do Umbuzeiro’ are delicate, bare-boned conversations between voice and guitar. Towards the end of ‘Como Vai Você’, the interjection of a bansuri flute is startling in such a subtle context. The wordless, flute-atious ‘Curió’ feels buoyant enough to be tailor-made for Joyce Moreno. Mônica Salmaso duets with Rosa on ‘Sara’, the only number with a string accompaniment. ‘It was her voice that I heard in my head and not mine,’ its composer reveals. Such sensitivity is the keynote to Pedro Rosa’s distinguished debut. Don’t expect fireworks or startling originality, just ten songs that exude class, authenticity and heartfelt sincerity.”

Pedro Rosa
Musician, Composer & Producer
An original voice in contemporary global music
Brazilian artist Pedro Rosa, based in Mallorca for over 17 years, is a singer,
guitarist, composer, and self-taught producer who has created a unique
musical language. His sound flows naturally between the richness of Brazilian
folklore, the elegance of jazz, the depth of classical music, and the textures of
contemporary world music.
His artistic universe is a living alchemy of Afro-Brazilian rhythms,
Mediterranean melodies, and modern soundscapes. Each of his compositions
is born from an honest search to express authentic emotions and build
bridges between cultures.
This vision has taken shape not only in his own works but also through
numerous collaborations with outstanding artists such as Mônica Salmaso,
Vanessa Moreno, Jurandir Santana, Jorge Pardo, Ney Matogrosso, Zé Luis
Nascimento, Antonio Sánchez, Lakki Patey, Guinga, Sérgio Santos, Ceumar,
Egberto Gismonti, Zenet, Márcio Faraco, Ivan Sacerdote, and many others.
In 2023, Pedro released his debut solo album, Midnight Alvorada, a work that
celebrates Brazil’s rhythmic diversity through a global and deeply personal
lens. The album was praised by critics and audiences alike and became the
centerpiece of his most significant performances.
In December 2025, Pedro will release Nuestro Camino, a collaborative album
with Norwegian-English composer-guitarist Lakki Patey. This acoustic project
blends Brazilian roots, jazz harmonies, and Nordic lyricism, offering a
reflective, emotive soundscape and marking a new chapter in Pedro’s
international artistic journey.
Looking further ahead, Carta ao Universo is scheduled for release in Summer
2026 — a vibrant and colorful album featuring special appearances from many
iconic Brazilian and international musicians, promising a celebration of
rhythm, melody, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Pedro has presented his music on renowned stages and festivals across Spain
and Europe, including Café Berlín and Galileo Galilei (Madrid), Jamboree
(Barcelona), the Palma Jazz Festival, Studio de l’Ermitage (Paris), Salamanca,
and many other national and international venues.
In 2024, he was selected to open for Egberto Gismonti at the prestigious Jazz
Voyeur Festival, confirming his position as an emerging artist with growing
international projection.
Alongside his artistic career, Pedro is the artistic and technical director of Red
Carpet Productions SL, where he leads his own projects and produces for
other artists, always with a handcrafted, emotional approach and an
unwavering commitment to sonic excellence.
Today, Pedro Rosa stands as one of the most compelling voices of a new
generation of global musicians with Brazilian roots — an artist whose path
unites authenticity, cultural fusion, and an ever-expanding international
presence.
